Tuesday 11 November 2017, the Survivor’s Voices performance took place at DanceEast in Ipswich. As mentioned before, the performance was the presentation of stories and prose from women who suffered from domestic violence. Working with the Associate Artists, these women were encouraged to share, write and explore their stories in a way that helped them to make it objective rather than subjective. They were able to put their experiences at arms length and explore the effect it had on them. This practice had a theraputic effect for the women, whilst also allowing them to raise awareness for what happens everyday behind closed doors. Have a read of East Anglian Daily Times review of the performance and work that Theatre Royal Associate Artist Danusia Iwaszko and women from The Refuge have been doing. Link below!
