Home Is Where The Start Is, Thu 12 Oct 2017

Lucinda Meredith, Associate Artist Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds was at an event today led by St Edmundsbury Borough Council, ‘Home is where the start is’ at The Apex.

This morning saw a presentation of a small sample of work created by homeless artists in Bury, led by the associate artist program. The work being previewed is a selection of images around homelessness in Bury made by Ed Crawford and Will Crump , a series of monologues developed with associate artists Danusia Iwaszko and Lucinda Meredith, and a CD sharing the work of a newly established homeless people’s choir in Bury led by Sheila Mitchell .

It was a great conference and panel debate with 300 engaged professionals and decision makers in the audience, preparing for the Homelessness Reduction Act – building partnerships and working together. .

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds understands the impact of creativity on increasing well-being, confidence and providing opportunities for homeless and ex homeless people  to share their experiences with decision makers, support staff and wider community.
