A Tryal of Witches: Young People’s Auditions

Posted on: 20th December, 2024

The play asks what led to one of the most shocking witch trials in British history. The trial in Bury St Edmunds was the first time women were convicted using ‘spectral evidence’ – the belief that witches could be in two places at one time.

Theatre Royal are looking for two girls aged 11-14 to play the role of Elizabeth in our forthcoming production of A Tryal of Witches by Tallulah Brown. This will be an exciting opportunity to perform on the Theatre Royal stage alongside a professional cast of actors in a powerful new play.

Time Commitment:         Evening rehearsals 4pm-6pm from 17th Feb- 28th Feb

Technical rehearsals 4pm-9pm 3-5 March

Dress rehearsals 1pm-9pm 6-7 March (NB this will require time off school)

Alternate performances Tues-Sat 8-22 March (NB this will involve a maximum of two afternoons off school on 13, 19 or 20 March)

Total time off school will be 3-4 afternoons.

Elizabeth is an eight-year-old girl who claims that she has been cursed by a witch. Please be aware that the play deals with a harrowing subject matter. Children will be well looked after by our team of professional chaperones throughout the process.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday 8th January 4pm-5.30pm.
