Golf Day 2025 at Thetford Golf Club

Posted on: 17th April, 2025

Following another fantastic event in April this year, which saw over 220 golfers take part, the ever-popular Theatre Royal – Bury St Edmunds Annual Golf Day made a welcome return to Thetford Golf Club.

Renowned as one of the premier golfing venues in East Anglia, Thetford once again played host to this much-anticipated annual fundraiser, proudly sponsored by Suffolk Village Info.

Now in its 13th year, the Theatre Royal Golf Day continues to go from strength to strength. We are extremely fortunate to have the continued support of Thetford Golf Club, who have generously offered their beautiful course for the event once more. Thetford’s pretty, tree-lined fairways and challenging layout make it a favourite among players, and for those who’ve yet to experience it, we highly recommend a visit—you won’t be disappointed.

Since the inaugural event in 2011, the Theatre Royal Golf Day has raised over £50,000 in support of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, a registered charity that plays a vital role in the cultural life of the region. Each year, the event draws enthusiastic support from across East Anglia, attracting golfers, spectators, and sponsors alike. We’re grateful to our supporters, including Suffolk Village Info, Taylor Wimpey, Chassis Cab DAF, Greene King, and Lovewell Blake, who help make the day such a success.

Teams of four will compete over 18 holes of Stableford golf, with the best three out of four scores counting towards the team total—a format that adds a fun competitive edge and keeps things interesting throughout the round.

‘We are so grateful to Ian Duncan for organising this amazing golf day at Thetford Golf Club. It raises vital funding for Theatre Royal, enabling us to continue our work in the community. In addition to this, we raise over 20% of our core income through fundraising so events like this are crucial to run the Theatre Royal.’ – Emma Suckling, Head of Development at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

As ever, players were welcomed with bacon rolls and hot drinks before heading out onto the course. After the team’s final putt drops, golfers arrived back in the club house to a hearty serving of traditional fish and chips. The raffle and prize table is always a highlight of the day, generously stocked with gifts and vouchers donated by Greene King, Theatre Royal, and many other kind contributors.
