Next Stage: A New Group for 16-18s

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is launching Next Stage, a brand-new theatre group for 16–18 year olds.

Starting in January 2026, the group will give young people the chance to develop acting, devising, and behind-the-scenes skills, guided by professional theatre-makers. Each session focuses on a different aspect of theatre skills to give you a deep dive into each topic!

The programme runs on one Wednesay a month from 5–7:30pm at Abbeygate Sixth Form College – book each session individually or book for all three! No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm and a passion for performance!

David Whitney, leading the project, said: “Next Stage is about giving young people a space to push themselves creatively, gain real performance experience and build skills that will help with UCAS, CVs and beyond. It’s an exciting opportunity to be part of something special at Theatre Royal.”

Wednesday 7^th January 2026 –  With a focus on Character

Wednesday 11^th February 2026 – With a focus on Voice

Wednesday 18^th March 2026 –  With a focus on Physicality
