Steve and Steff For Ever is an immersive and intoxicating love story that takes place in and around the streets and businesses of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. From the creative team behind A Christmas Carol (2021), this is an outdoor, promenade performance through the streets of Bury St Edmunds.

 

What does ‘promenade performance’ mean?

A promenade performance is a theatrical production where the audience follows the actors from place to place, often in unusual locations, such as outdoors.

Steve & Steff For Ever will take place in the town centre of Bury St Edmunds, visiting several key locations as the story unfolds. Audience members will walk between locations wearing headsets, providing immersive audio for storytelling purposes.

 

How long is the performance?

The performance lasts approximately 75 minutes.

 

Where does it start?

The meeting location is at our pop-up box office on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds. The What Three Words location is ‘sympathy.trinkets.adverbs‘. All locations visited during the performance are in central Bury St Edmunds.

 

Where does it finish?

The performance finishes on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds. After the performance, you’ll be guided to our pop-up Box Office to return your headsets.

 

Where can I park?

There are numerous car parks in short walking distance from the start location.  See all Bury St Edmunds car parks here.

 

What happens if I’m running late?

Due to the nature of promenade theatre, it is not possible to delay the start time. We therefore advise aiming to arrive at the start location at least 15 minutes before the performance start time.

What happens if it rains?

To ensure all audience members have a clear line of sight, umbrellas are not permitted during the performance. We strongly advise checking the forecast beforehand and wearing a suitable hooded coat as necessary. The performances will take place in all weather.

 

How far will we have to walk?

The total distance travelled during the performance is approximately 0.6 miles. This is travelled over the duration of the performance with multiple pauses along the route.

 

Are there any seats?

No. All members of the audience will be standing for the duration of the performance and walking between locations as the story progresses.

 

Can I use my phone during the play?

Unfortunately not. All mobile devices need to be turned to Airplane mode or switched off during the performance to avoid disrupting your headphone signal.

 

Is the route wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the route is wheelchair & pushchair accessible. For more information on the route, get in touch with [email protected].

 

Do you have any access performances?

Yes, our BSL interpreted performance is at 7pm on 20th August and there are two relaxed performances at 7pm on the 19th and 26th of August. We have an Easy Read And Visual Guide available for anyone who would like an in-depth explanation of the characters and the route. Find it here.

Can I bring a pushchair with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring prams or pushchairs with you.

 

Can I bring my dog with me?

Due to the nature of promenade performances, dogs are not permitted. Only registered assistance dogs are permitted.

 

Do I need to/can I bring my own headphones?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use your personal headphones during the performance. Sanitised headsets will be provided at our pop-up Box Office.

 

Is there anywhere to store personal belongings during the performance?

Valuables should be kept on your person during the performance.
