Posted on: 26th September, 2025

A fundraising event to commemorate and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 1965 reopening of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds – when it was restored from a barrel store to a working theatre once more.

Dame Judi Dench and Sir Derek Jacobi will join us on stage in conversation with Richard Clifford, touching on their friendship, working relationship and anecdotes from their extensive careers. Expect anecdotes, tips and lots of laughs from these long-time friends and colleagues.

Our celebratory event has an additional post-show reception available (limited tickets available). If you would like to join us on stage with Judi and Derek after the show, please select the correct ticket at the beginning of the checkout process. For more information about this event, email [email protected].

60 years ago, the hard work, determination and passion for theatre led to the reopening of Theatre Royal – the 1960s restoration took six years of tireless fundraising and huge community efforts. It is an intrinsic part of Theatre Royal’s story and created a lasting legacy for future generations.
