Act Your Age Theatre Workshop – The Quarter Sessions

Tue 19 Jan

Running Time : 1 hour 30 minutes

We are delighted to continue with our adult theatre groups online, facilitated by professional actors and theatre makers.

Participants will work on a project during their weekly zoom sessions culminating in the creation of a brand new audio performance at the end of the programme.

The Quarter Sessions

If you are you 55+ and interested in writing, acting, recording, getting shot (only with a camera) and generally having a lot of fun while making a new audio performance then our Act Your Age creative zoom workshops may be for you.

The Quarter Sessions project will delve into Bury St Edmunds’ underworld – where mystery, intrigue and  colourful local characters blend in the melting pot of crime and punishment. With the help of our friends at Suffolk Records Office we will uncover crimes deemed worthy of a court appearance including the infamous trial of  … Who stole the turnips … And why?

Working with theatre makers including actors, directors, and musicians you will create a short audio performance bringing to it your creativity and opinion along with any existing creative skills whilst having the opportunity to learn some new ones.

  • Every Tuesday for 11 weeks starting 19 January 2021 on Zoom
  • 1.30pm to 3pm
  • 11 sessions just £33
  • 16 spaces available – first come first served
  • No experience necessary

If you have any questions about the groups – what’s involved, whether it’s right for you or concerns about using Zoom, email

Our adult participation groups are part of our Beyond Walls project funded by Arts Council England and Awards for All – The National Lottery Community Fund, Bury St Edmunds Town Council, West Suffolk Council, West Suffolk Council Community Chest, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Community Foundation and Theatre Royal Supporters Group.
