The Autumn Season opens at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds with Our Day Out – the Musical by Willy Russell.
This is a very unique production as it allows a young cast of 12 – 19 year olds to participate alongside a professional cast and backstage team. The cast will immerse themselves throughout August rehearsing and learning from the best.
Willy Russell is an award winning writer, most famous for Blood Brothers now in its 34th year, Educating Rita – made popular by the film starring Julie Walters and Michael Caine and Shirley Valentine.
In Our Day Out Mrs Kay’s unruly Progress Class is unleashed from the classroom for a day to pile into a bus for a one-off school trip and sees the young cast singing and dancing rings around their fraught teachers.
Our Day Out – the Musical will transport you to the school days of lollipop men, packed lunches and young love as this action packed rewrite of the hit 1977 TV show is brought to the Theatre Royal Stage
