Free Tickets to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Posted on: 17th July, 2023

We’re giving away a limited number of tickets for our summer production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz for free so we can share live performance with those who may not be able to attend otherwise.

Owen Calvert-Lyons, Theatre Royal Artistic Director says: “We are making an incredible, uplifting, fun show this summer and we want to give everyone in our community the chance to come and see it. We know coming to the theatre isn’t going to be an option for everyone, simply due to the cost of tickets, and so by working with community partners and through our own community ticketing programme we are making a number of tickets free of charge.”

To make this offer as accessible as possible, there are three routes to claim tickets:

Theatre Royal has fostered a new partnership with Job Centre Plus and those claiming Universal Credit may be eligible to book free tickets for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz via the job centre. Please contact the Job Centre’s family inbox on [email protected].

For many years, Theatre Royal has worked closely with local community charities to deliver workshops and performances for young people, disability groups, survivors of domestic abuse and people in recovery from substance abuse. This programme of work continues to expand and enhance local lives throughout West Suffolk and further afield. Thanks to funding from West Suffolk Community Chest programme, free tickets for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will be distributed via a Julian Support project to a number of local charitable partners including Mencap, Turning Point, Mind, Women’s Aid and Suffolk Art Link.

Tickets are limited and are available on a first-come first served basis. If you’d like to secure free tickets through our new scheme, contact the Theatre Royal Box Office directly at 01284 769 505 or via email at [email protected], and they will reserve these tickets for you.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (18 Aug – 2 Sept) is a reworked classic full of singing and dancing – perfect for families in the summer holidays! Meet Dorothy and her dog Toto who must find their way home when a rogue tornado whisks them to the Land of Oz! See dates and times here.
