Your Showstopping Wedding
‘Everything has been a whirlwind but so sad it’s all over. You and the team were just amazing and made the day so perfect’.
Take to the stage
Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is licensed for marriages and civil partnerships. Our stage provides a stunning, theatrical backdrop for ceremonies and celebrations within our dramatic, intimate auditorium.
Our experienced front-of-house teams will ensure guests are taken care of and seated comfortably, making sure you are free to enjoy the ceremony.
The theatre can host weddings on stage for intimate gatherings or provide use of the full auditorium to comfortably seat up to 360 guests. Seating is tiered with accessible seating also available so every member of the wedding party can see and be part of the magic.
After the vows (and bows) you can continue your special day with us. The Georgian Stage can then be transformed to accommodate wedding breakfasts for up to 90 people, onto an evening reception dance floor for a theatrical end to your day.
You can also choose drinks, canapés and receptions to be hosted in the more contemporary setting of our Greene Room Bar and Garden.
‘Thank you so much for yesterday, it was absolutely brilliant! Everyone enjoyed coming to the theatre, and for us it was perfect’!

The theatre is one of Bury St Edmunds Registry Office’s approved venues for weddings in Suffolk. We are experienced in working alongside them to ensure the official paperwork for ceremonies and renewal of vows is hassle free for the happy couple.
