Our Theatre Work With High Schools

Posted on: 12th June, 2023

We work to motivate, engage and excite KS3 and GCSE students from across Suffolk with all areas of drama in their school.

“This is a really exciting time for the growth of school work – especially with Secondary Schools. Our new packages are designed specifically to support the delivery of the curriculum across all key stages including GCSE and A-Level. With this work, we want our local young people to be able to experience the joy of the arts and provide them with opportunities to connect with theatre. Our packages have been crafted through conversations with local teachers to make sure that they are really tailored to support local young people’s growth and development. These packages include opportunities for young people to build knowledge, skills and confidence whilst providing space for them to grow as individuals” – Emma Thorpe, Young People’s Producer

Our new partner packages are a new opportunity for schools within Suffolk to work with us for a whole academic year. For a set price, schools can choose one of our three levels granting them guaranteed access to our core projects, set time with our creative learning team, backstage tours and career talks. These packages have been designed to specifically link to the curriculum making specific links with the English, PHSE and Drama curriculum across all key stages.

These packages allow young people to develop skills which they can take with them past their educational  studies whilst also supporting teachers with their delivery and providing them with practical links to the arts and entertainment industry. The packages are designed to be flexible to support the targets and aims of our local schools whilst also allowing local young people to gain skills in confidence, creativity, imagination and public speaking.

During our work with Mildenhall College Academy, they made specific reference to the fact that due to the isolated nature of their location, it was beneficial for their young people to experience having external facilitators come into their school environment to get them used to working with people away from their teaching staff.  St Felix School in Haverhill made reference to the fact that they liked they could choose what we focused on with their set dedicated time as it allowed them to hit the needs of their local young people. This has made it more nuanced for them rather than trying to make a pre-set package fit their needs.
