WOMEN’S REFUGE

We are in the final session of creative expression workshops at the Women’s Aid Refuge. Associate Artist/Writer Danusia Iwaszko is leading a  group of dedicated women to produce play scripts and prose that will be performed in March at Theatre Royal. The work titled Alchemy shares the experiences of surviving domestic abuse situations through the eyes of the women and young people that have experienced it. It will play to friends and families of survivors, as well as staff and students who work directly with people experiencing domestic abuse, recognising the voice of the survivor as the expert by experience.

META-MORE-FORCE

Joseph – Barnes Philips  who performed Big Foot at Theatre Royal in 2017 is delivering an engagement program with men at Highpoint Prison, utilising the themes explored in Big Foot – racial stereotyping, being a man, and growing up as some of the starting points for creativity. Joseph will bring this work together at Theatre Royal in April to an invited audience of youth workers, families of the prisoners and local young people at risk of offending.

FOCUS 12

Drama workshops are enjoyed by clients and key workers at Focus 12, accessing their renowned recovery program. Laughter often proliferates the workshop as participants get to grips with throwing and catching the pillow and developing character and story.

THE HUB

The Hub Befrienders Group are working tirelessly to devise a new production which will be performed at Theatre Royal. Characters and story lines have now been developed around themes of care homes – and workshops are a creative hub full of friendship and support.

Watch this pace for updates on our new devising group for older performers and participants – ” The Wisdom Club” as a continuation with the work we have undertaken historically with Age UK in 2016/2017.
