Associate Artist Program – Sunnyview with community partner The Befriending Scheme

In June, Theatre Royal Associate Artist program presented Sunny View with The Befriending Scheme. The Befriending Scheme provides friendship and learning opportunities for people aged over 16, including those with learning disabilities, mental health needs and older groups.

For the past eight months we have delivered creative weekly workshops and a creative rehearsal process led by Danusia Iwaszko  to a large group of members from The Bury Hub. This work culminated in an hour long devised performance on the stage at Theatre Royal – playing to sector staff, family and friends this collaborative devised performance gave both a poignant and comic  insight into the workings of  an older peoples residential home and living with – amongst other things; dementia and failing memory.

The performance was beautifully accompanied by music created by members of the group.
