Cinderella Pantomime 2021/22 Cast Announcement

Posted on: 8th September, 2021

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to unveil the professional cast of this year’s pantomime, Cinderella.

It’s a busy day in Bury! On Butter Market Square, Buttons the barrow boy flogs his fruit. On Hardwick Heath, Prince Charming frets over his future. And up at Sickworth House, Kylie and Miley are making Cinderella’s life a misery. Poor old Cinders! All she knows is domestic drudgery, day in, day out…but this day is different, this day is special and when this day is done, nothing will ever be the same again.

BECKY SANNEH as CINDERELLA

Strong, brave, un-afraid to speak the truth; this servant girl has it all. And with the help of her Fairy Godmother, she has a rockin’ ballgown and sparkly shoes too! But will she find her prince charming?

Recently graduated in Musical Theatre from Trinity Laban, Becky’s credits include The Addams Family, Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens and Honk! (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance).

CHRIS CLARKSON as KYLIE GRIZZLE

Gossipy, girly, and gruesome, this Grizzle sister is ready to bag herself a prince and become the biggest pop star in all of Bury! If she could only get that silly servant girl Cinders out of the way first.

Returning for the fifth year, Chris has become a firm audience favourite following his performances as Tiger Lily in Peter Pan and Nanny Fanny in Sleeping Beauty, we are delighted to have him back with us this year.

CRAIG PAINTING as MYLIE GRIZZLE

One of our Ugly Sisters, Mylie is dumpy, unkind and entirely senseless… but as a vain wannabe pop-star, with dreams of making it big she can be deadly and will stop anyone who tries to get in her way…

Craig is a great comic actor as he demonstrated in his recent role as Mr Pendanski, the camp councillor, in Theatre Royal’s own production of Louis Sachar’s Holes. We are excited to welcome him back to the stage so soon.

SAMUEL KNIGHT as PRINCE ROGER

Prince Roger is a polite and thoughtful young chap in search of his own path beyond the palace walls. Distracted by his own search for true love, Miss Vandini doesn’t get a look in! Let’s hope Cinderella finds her way to the ball…

HOWIE MICHAELS as BUTTONS

A gregarious greengrocer and Cinderella’s best friend and soon to be girlfriend… he wishes! Buttons is always there to brighten the day.

Trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Howie has panto-worthy comic timing and will have the audience in hysterics.

ROSEMARY ANNABELLA NKRUMAH as FAIRY GODMOTHER

Godmother to all in need of one, she is warm, kind-hearted and full of magic! (Who else could turn a pumpkin into a carriage?!) Rosemary spent 3 years as understudy for Hermione Granger in the West End’s Harry Potter and The Cursed Child and reprised the role of Diana Ross in an ITV drama about the singer.

BETH TUCKEY as GRIZELDA GRIZZLE

A failed starlet, pushy showbiz mum and begrudging stepmother to Cinderella. With all her husband’s money blown on her daughters’ failed pop careers she is going to need more than her old leopard print trousers to save her… could she be the prince’s future mother-in-law?

Trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Beth appeared at Theatre Royal in 2017 as Mrs Kaye in Our Day Out – the Musical.

FELICITY HOULBROOKE as MISS VANDINI

Serious-minded and strait-laced, Miss Vandini is a woman permanently overlooked, but filled with her own burning passions and dreams. If only the prince would notice them.

The search is also on for local young performers to join the Young Chorus. We are looking for young people aged 10 – 18 years old with a passion for performing. Not only will the pantomime be a great chance to work alongside a professional cast and crew but it will be a lot of fun and a chance to make new friends.
